My experience in Dota 2 (4k MMR) in General Discussion
Bloodshot

I am making this post as a heads up to new players, asking for advice from veterans, and everyone in between.

I mostly play position 4 (for those that are new, that is a roaming support), I also watch quite a bit of Twitch streams of the high tier games, and consider myself as someone who has a good general understanding of what a match of Dota 2 should consist of (it is really not that complicated compared to what we deal with on daily basis).

That out of the way, I will comment on the feedback I am getting from my teammates as I attempt to emphasise cooperation and working towards what a match of Dota 2 should consist of.

Most of my attempts at working as a team of 5 players gets brushed off with an ignorant amount of criticism, which is fine, we don't expect 5 people who have met each other for the first time to be cooperative. However, when players decide to destroy their items, in a very close and absolutely winnable game, using their lack of understanding of the positioning and dreadful awareness as an excuse, things get tricky.

Not rubbing someone in what they perceive as the right way, can (and most likely will) result in a report which gets you 24+ hours of being muted in game. This makes your future games an absolute nightmare as you can't communicate your ideas in crucial moments. From there on, any other reports (again due to not doing what your teammate, who just keeps making the same mistake and repeatedly getting punished for it, thinks you should be doing) are treated way more severely, sometimes blasting you in a low priority punishment and effectively downgrading your behaviour score.

My point is, something should be done about this phenomenon, and I would GLADLY pay way more than $10 to queue with other likeminded people who don't want to waste their free time (which is getting thinner and thinner over the years) on other people's incapability to cooperate.

Coming back to the original question, how do veteran players deal with this? I have tried muting others, which results in a very vague and overall unpleasant experience, didn't give much of a yield.

    All comments are appreciated!

    Cheers,

Uhh, if other don't want to work as a team i just chill, do my stuff, but it doesn't happen often and I rarely see people destroy their items and if they do i usually do some random stuff if it's a core. I always try to smile when people do that cause it that one game don't matter to me, I always look forward to the next game and try to learn something new. I know these people will get LP eventually anyways.
Idk why people don't work as a team with you, idk what people you are playing with but when I was 4k people still would work as a team. And sometimes you just need to do diffrent stuff on the map, maybe your carry cant fight at the moment he needs certain item, maybe enemy teamfight is stronger and you just need 2-3 ppl to gank some1, no idea really whats the actual case, maybe you are salty or something? Because ppl tend to listen to other people who are well mannered, and aint salty. What I have noticed helps bring a random team together is really dumb and shitty jokes, and when you are actually having fun executing certain things. Im doing some troll stuff while trying to win messing arround with my team n shit, and I always try to use mic and when I do ppl usually respond using their mics as well if they have.

No idea if you get anything but I hope this helps, it has been a long day!

Thanks for the comment, I get what you're saying.

I don't think I'm salty, just probably overly serious, but that's just the way I am. I might have had the most improbable chain of games (5 in a row) that were absolute madness. This post alone was a huge weight off my shoulders. Shitty jokes and general positivity is legit advice on how to bond the team together. I will try it for sure.

Thanks and have a good day, sir.

Write a letter to valve asking them to abolish the low prio system and implement a system to detect ruining by feed or refusing to play. That will fix your problem. Oh, and tell them to not take account behavior into matchmaking because the only thing it has done so far has been making the game toxic and unbalanced everywhere. Skill is the only thing that matters as long as people play to win and it has been like that over a decade.

Yo op first of all you talk too much. Secondly what's your behaviour score ?

In the end you are flat 4k. The most toxic bracket, where people think they have (as you mentioned also) a good understanding of the game. The moment you realise that you still suck, you will eventually keep on grinding again.

I also play pos 4 mostly. Help your team win the lanes and you will have more than 20 commends in every summary.

These were the most useless comments ever, @Lex @the noob. " The moment you realise that you still suck, you will eventually keep on grinding again." I am very well aware that I suck and that real Dota starts around 6k+, what's your point? The reason I said I have a good understanding of the game is because of years of watching and analysing pro matches, which I am very confident in.

Regarding the summary, I do have 15+ commends EVERY time, however 3-5 reports can get you 24+ hour muted and its absurd. If you answer just to try and be a smart ass, don't even bother.

                  Javad

The answer is simple to put in words, but takes hard years to practice and develop, and isn't just about dota it's about your personality

You have to develop your leadership skills. As i said, the words are clear. But the meaning is so deep.

If i try in my little words to give a little bit of a perspective about this, it would give results like u controlling the actions of the team, or deciding if this x person is or isnt worth trying to work with, or generally if team work would work this game and then changing ur job based on this analysis. (For example u'r a pos4 slardar but u see ur mates being very incompetent and not willing to do the right thing. You change your job from not showing on the map and being a threat and ganking with +1s to shoving waves and warding then farming jungle around the area u shoved the wave in, when ur team is just afk farming)

Yo op you have mental issues. You are 100% toxic AF. Thats why you get muted. Normal people dont get muted for playing decent dota. Good understanding because you watch pro dota. :d Trick please. Stop talking because you only show that the system is working perfectly as intended.

Can anybody check word cloud for this man on opendota? It would give a lot of feedback about this guy.

Ure literally are in toxic bracket (MM system will match u with people with same behavior score as u) that only means 1 thing u ureself are toxic! And thankfully it's not easy to get out of it 😊
+the only way u could possibly get muted is to be also reported by the enemy cause this kinda ban is HARD to own

^ seems he just talks a lot a LUT:

Low priority is not as bad as it seems tbh
Get 2-4 friends/people to play with you and its actually a fun experience

Coming from someone who played 47 low priority matches in a row.

to be honest. dont even talk to no one. you are kinda toxic as well.

                                  PrizmIzOld

oh man, that's kinda EPIC. you kinda overthink this. the problem that you described presents in all multiplayer games. best advice just deal with it or go play in single player games.

Playing in -5k means everyone is trying to solo win games over teamwork. This makes sense because the current meta is one of the best at individual skill translating into wins. I'm not good, but I'd recommend trying to do the same or do things in groups of 2/3. cooperation can be attained without 5 participants; in fact if you can get shit done as a small group it's WAY more efficient than cutting into everyone's time.
