Invoker sunstrikes, skill or luck? in General Discussion

What do you guys think, is sunstrike skill-based or is it pure luck?

It's a loaded question. It obviously takes a bit of skill and luck. The argument goes as follows:

The fact that some invokers consistently miss all sunstrikes means there is some skill in it. The fact that Invokers that are really good and tend to hit most sunstrikes can miss a bunch every now and then means there's some luck in it.

There are also variations of the sunstrike use that are pure skill/timing when using it with his other skills/items or his allies' skills/items that guarantee a person will be somewhere (unless the guy is force staffed, wisp ulted, or something like that).

I've hit my fair share of both skilled and lucked shots, for example, I once hit a timber whilst he was mid timber-chaining to a tree from a blind click on a map, I knew he'd be vaguely there but I watched the replay to see exactly how it happened, it was literally perfect the way he chained into the shot. That one was pretty lucky. There have been others where for example I've seen a BH go invis so I've placed it where his pathing was heading and hit it, the same can be said where I've predicted the movement of a blinking hero like AM or QoP. They're pretty skillful shots. I must say though, sometimes it works both ways, I've had a perfect sun strike lined up and then for some reason someone has stood still in lane for like 0.2 seconds before continuing on their path, and then I've missed the shot. It was pure luck on their part that they weren't hit.

Mostly skill, but lots of luck involved definitely. If you see an obvious path and land a strike, that is skill, but at the same time, what if that target stopped moving or changed direction instead of walking straight into your ss? That is the luck factor. Enemies can always walk into the ss or out of the ss, it's all dependent on where you put it and where they walk.

This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill, fifteen percent concentrated power of will, five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain and a hundred percent reason to hit the sunstrike

It's a combination of both skill and luck imo, but this one:

is pure luck based unless the Invoker had wards somewhere down the lane to see the movement of the SB.

its a skill shot. can you get lucky with it? sure. but its a skill shot none the less.
get a bs in team, and sunstrikes get ridiculous..

There was a bloodseeker on the enemy team. SB knew that invoker could see him so he acted like a crazy all the way back.
