because it takes up on slot and 4 bracers would take up 4. That is the whole point. And because it adds balance to items with its expensive cost for build up.

Same logic, buy 10 gg branches, 530 gold. Don't have slots? What a shame. Or 25 instead of skadi?
If people want pure stats they get a drum... No one buys a casual ultimate orb you use it to build other items

Ult orb is 2100. For that price you can get 4 bracers for 24 str, 12 agi, 12 int and 12 dmg. Or for 250 gold less you can get drums which give you 9 str, 9 agi, 9 int and a sweet aura.
I guess obvious answer is ult orb is a piece of other powerful recipes and no one has slot space for 4 bracers plus a ton of other items, but it seems to me like ult orb should be reduced to ~1800 and the items it makes should have their recipe cost raised so they still cost the same for balance. It may not change a whole lot but building a manta style and vyse it sucks saving for that orb. Vyse is probably my least favorite item to build ever because the only sort of cheap piece is mana regen while the stats pieces are really expensive.
