I personally think, that as soon as you are confident that you know all spell AoE's, switching to quickcast is a good idea. It does save a bit of time.
On the other hand, you can't double tap, which is annoying.
The time between pressing the spell button and clicking is so tiny that I think it's irrelevant. Besides, it's easier to misclick a spell with quickcast.
I've wondered whether to use quick cast myself, but I haven't run into a situation where I need to.
I'm guessing you were able to creep him before he got his spells off because of quick cast?
I think quick cast casts a spell at wherever your mouse pointer is (if it's a hero target spell on that hero, if any). So instead of pressing E, then left clicking on Magnus, I could just hover my mouse on Magnus and press E. It eliminates the need to click, right?
I use ALT+Key for smart cast. No idea if I used it so far, but in theory I can use it for fast blinks in case of naga songs or if I get stuned (spam 1 key instead of 1 key + click). Also I have smart cast on Mouse 5, because feels kinda' weird to Mouse 5 + Mouse 1.
I'm going to have to test between quick cast and normal cast on a bot match tonight. It sounds like depending on the spell type it may not apply... nice vid Kawaii I'm just ignorant as to what the situation is and what situation it causes issues on for spell casters.
May be a situation where I may swap between the two depending on the char. I play idk. good thread though. If someone can elaborate more would be appreciated.

Tbh, its up to what you are used to! Both have their slight pro and cons!
It would feel really awkard to play pudge with quick cast to me ;O I'm too used to normal clicking, but i guess that quick cast is superior... Just like action on key-press option in wow (instead of on releasing a key).
I think I'd prefer to click on skill shots, but the meepo thing...why didn't I think of that...so obvious...

When you use quickcast you don't have to click, which can increase the rate of missclicking abilities drastically, and missclicks happen at pros as well. I've seen even the pro players avoiding quickast and I agree with them, instead what's pro to use is queue cast.

There's no click after you press the skill button. It just targets where your mouse is.
from my pov(i used quickcast 1 year-> bad habit retained from lol) quick cast is very very very situational. It is situational because many times you will miss aoe skills. So after 1 year i realizd that i was missing a lot because of the quickcasting. It is indeed useful in lol because there you have mages with combos so you really need to be fast.
It does nothing but make you miss a lot of spells. For what ever reason you would be spamming the spell key to land it on enemy blinkers, you could just press it early and spam click with the target thing and youll be just as fast.

Yes you can spell-queue by holding shift+q or shift+w Shift +e etc etc.
This is more of an "ACTION" queue, you can queue actions.
Best example of doing this:
1. I'm playing sand king, i have blink dagger.
2. I see a pile of people to kill with my epicentre so I shift click my R then queue up a shift+blink dagger function so it waits after the initial charge of epicentre. then I queue up a burrow strike with shift+Q. Then to top it all off go into sand storm with shift +W.
Blink dagger play and queueing spells is big time for people like sand king/enigma blah blah blah a bunch of people that benefit from queuing spells.
