Would you rather have a avg seasoned doto veteran or a good talented new doto player as a teamate? in General Discussion
Bad Intentions

Title please. An avg veteran of high games or a talented new comer?

    arin

depends on, if i'm playing pub or competetive
in pub i'll rather have veteran because he will be probably mature and won't whine about everything
however, if he's average after many years of dota, he can't probably get any better, so he would be an anchor in competetive dota, where i'd rather choose the talented young guy

Talented new comer, as long as he aint a brickhead ofc. The problem with avg veterans is that they all suffer (including me) form Dunnin-kruger, they all dont take what they deserve coz apparently the only left reason is that the stars aint aligned, ofc them not deservin to be there is like out of the question i mean i have 11years of dota...what u want me to say that a shitty kid who has like 1-2years playin this shit is better than me? NOPE.

Ok fine seriously it doesnt rly matter which is in my team as long as that some1 is an understandable person who can take and give constructive criticims (and be able to make the diffrence between constructive and destructive).

Even if newcomer is talented, if he's truly new to dota there will probably be mechanical stuff or spell interactions that vet would know better

talented newcomer. why the hell do i want someone on my team who is still 4k mmr after several years and thousands of hours of dota when a newcomer is probably better than his mmr suggests since he's still climbing.

I prefer the veteran until the newcomer has at least a year of experience. Abunai is right, a newcomer, no matter how talented, will be facing many of DotA2's hero combos for the first time and will likely let his team down against such gambits.

It highly depends on what I want to achieve.

                    1. If I want to become popular in community then playing with veteran might be a better option.
                    2. If I want to have a top team then probably trying out new prodigy might be a better option.
                    3. If I search for knowledge then veteran is probably better.
                    4. If I search for pure skill then newcomer might be a better option.
                    5. If I look for new ideas then newcomer might be better.
                    6. If my team requires stability & good fundamentals then vetaran is better.
                    7. ...

There is really no easy answer. It's a really complex thing & people who instantly responds only look from 1 narrow perspective & are simply ignorant.

Eh, maybe a veteran, talented new comers are young, and mostly trying to focus on themselves only. But then again, i have a friend who's been playing Dota for 9 years, he's cocky, and thinks everyone elses opinion is void but his own, and still can't prove to me he's 5K/6K solo MMR. I only been playing a year, and i'm gonna hit 4K soon, i'd quit Dota forever if i wasn't 5K by at least 3 years.

so basically you're asking me if id rather die from cancer or aids

                        how about no

                        Filthy

Hmm cancer is prob a better way to go as far as ur image goes. My father dying-of cancer sounds a little more socially appealing than my father died of aids
