just get a decent usb keyboard/mouse combo and you're pretty much set, unless your laptop's screen is fucking tiny in which case you should only play doom and other big heroes :3

Oh fuck yes you did, those keyboards are so fucking cramped and have very shit key press action so they are often not ideal for gaming, and sometimes it is godfucking awful. Just get that keyboard and you're probably set. But the worst part is that you can't position your hand properly, I think that's the greatest problem with it.

I am in the same situation, playing on laptop. Laptop keyboard actually works pretty fine for me, ofc you need a mouse though.

its really hard, i've been playing on a laptop for the last 2 months, it's been a pain to adapt

never played dota on a pc. dell inspiron 15R, keyboard aint too shabby. This way u can also play lying on bed with ur head reclined against a pillow

80% of my games are played on a laptop, maybe even more.

It is harder if your laptop is not 60 fps+, otherwise it just takes a... a couple of games so that you adjust to the keyboard.

It's a struggle boys..

Last night I was playing on my shitbox laptop and I'm queuing for a game as per normal. I wait 4 or 5 mins then I decide to watch a game while I wait, as most people do. My laptop loads the game that I'm trying to spectate so slowly that while this is happening my queue has finished and I'm unable to "accept game" cos all I see is load-screen.

BOOM 30 minute ban from queuing because I "failed to ready up".

Any recommendations around 30€?

1st: Well, I've got my laptop around a year and a half ago. I went home only to realise that the USB ports won't work, so I could not install Win7 (no, my laptop does not have optical drive). The workers of the store also tested it, but yea, they were all faulty. I have been given a new one, instead of fixing it (of course). It worked and is still working fine.
2nd: I have downloaded chrome
3rd: Downloaded Steam.
4th: Installed Dota 2.
5th: Double clicked Dota2 icon on desktop.
6th: Clicked "Find Match"
7th: Lost horribly (but it was after a 1,5 years break, so, still felt good)

You could just get a bog standard £5 rubber dome one off ebay, you'll still be better off than using laptop layout imo.

I've been playing on a laptop for years now so regular keyboards give me a weird feeling, though I can still use them well, I'm more comfortable with laptop keyboards. Also use a wireless mouse if you want.

I only used laptop keyboard to play DOTA2, so I can't tell if there is any difference, but I think it must be about the same. Also I used "max_fps 30" console command in source 1 (not sure if it works in source 2). I can't notice any improvements of having FPS higher than 30.
