it gives you higher mmr and that rmoves the leavers, instapick trash while also gives you better gameplay experience. when you are matched with better players you improve because you are forced to get better instead of just stomping everyone.

in normal skill when someone disconnects, there are cancer players that just unpause on purpose to get safe to leave so they can leave only because the enemy team picked invoker even though you have nyx assasin
