That's pretty much what lore is. Although the lore in Dota 2 is very different from Warcraft due to copyright reasons. As far as I know. Terrorblade, AM and NP no longer have any relationship between each other. Pretty sure Doom doesn't have a wife anymore either and I don't think he works for Pitlord, but we wont know for sure until pitlord (who will be renamed to Abyssal Underlord) is added to Dota 2.

My understanding of the characters of the heroes come from the campaign modes in Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne . For instance , THere were 3 night stalkers who worked under Doom and Dooms wife , and their big bad boss was Pit Lord . Or Illidan ( Anti-Mage at first ) is if i remember correctly Furions brother being a wanted criminal , who later becomes stronger ( Terrorblade) and has an army of fish ( Slardar , Naga , Slark , etc. ) . Those are just small examples , so what exactly is lore ? Is it the same as my understanding ?
