its hard to say whether smthng is unorthodox or not now, cz dota became a lot more flexible in this sense.
p.s kunkka's primary role is support; weaver was the offlaner for many years, same as ns was a midlaner; wk is being played as supp quite a lot in the last two years; brewmaster is just an offlane hero.
Well I kinda missed the first 5 years of Dota 2 . I played dota 1 for 6 years , up to 2013 . Then continued again November of last year , so i guessed I've missed a lot of meta changes , some of it just seems new to me =)
number 5 od. it s actually pretty good, you level up 2. and 3. , you have some crowd control, you can zone out the offlaner, and effect the combats in both control and dmg, and it scales better for late game compared to other supps
Weaver offlane is sure win for me. Check my last game. U only have to rush linken, deso, bloodthorn. No boots required, but if u behind, or your team argue about that, but that fuckin boots, haha

The newest one I've seen is an offlane weaver run by Liquid . Other examples are Furion as carry , Wraith King as support , and Mid Night Stalker .
My personal favourites are Brewmaster solo offlane space creater , and Kunkka 4th pos. support .
