Heroes that have absurd base stat can get a quelling blade even if they are ranged. I mean, a drow with 200 base damage will get 30 bonus damage from a 200 gold item as far as farming is concerned. Morphling does the same thing, and obviously, quell itself can be useful too in order to shorten your path around the jungle. It all comes down to slot efficiency at some point.
Remember you will sell it back so it's really only costing you 100g. It's extremely cheap and worthwhile, even ranged heroes at lvl 1 get like 6 dmg from it. Compared that to a blades of attack which is 420g and only gives 9 dmg. Obviously the blades build into something, but QB is very cheap for what it gives, plus any farmer can use it to cut trees for better paths in jungle.
Illusions only benefit from base dmg/stat dmg so I think how it works is they get 140% dmg and then that's reduced by whatever the illusion penalty is, so on a TB that'd be 60% at rank 4 of his images.
QB is great for farming when you suck ( so naturally i buy it every game kappa)
People think that last hitting without a QB makes you a better player. In a lot of cases, though, it makes you a stupider player because it is the best farming item in the game for its cost.
yeah so proud of "no ampli dmg noobs farming too ez", when in fact they are missing out on one of the most cost-efficient items in the whole game. id say qb and talon are just behind boots in terms of price <-> slot efficiency.

Since quelling blade gives you 40% bonus damage against creeps as melee, is that 40% of your base damage increased on creeps? Is it the same for the 15% bonus base damage on ranged? How do illusions get it, is it a percentage of that illusions damage or percentage of your damage onto the illusion. I've seen some pro players get quelling blade on ranged heroes, luna, morphling. Why is this? Is it so they can cut down trees for farming? Because 15% bonus damage against creeps on ranged doesn't seem worth it. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense. Thanks.
