roam ck has never been stronger and with recent buffs to illusions' attack speed you no longer have to stack a ton of agility to increase your DPS so you actually scale like a monster if you play or transition into a core

Why do people skip helm now, surely the item synergies even better with armlet now?

its because echo is better and you want echo fast. delaying it by 2000 just to get a regen/attack speed item is kinda not worth it IMO
personally would try to go armlet mojllnir but he would still be starving for mana
Mjollnir seems terrible, chain lightning doesn't benefit at all from the minus armor, and the only part of the item that helps illusions is the attack speed.
CK actually was a viable mid hero in 6.88, 7.00 was a nerf to his early game buff to his late game.
But CK never had the ability to farm will other than the radiance build where you farm the entire map at once with his phantasms and radiance
Therefore the only way to play ck is to do good early and mid game in order to snowball into late game. But with the reality rift chnage his early game is reduced by about 50%
Which I would say nerfs him in total by 20%. I had a 90% winrate with him in 6.88
He was stronger, just nobody played him until changes where made then people started realizing he was strong again because he is still and incredibly strong hero when there is no sven/lc/enigma.
You have 3 in rift by lvl 5 anyway so it's hardly a nerf. I think dominator is a great pickup. That plus lifesteal on crit you can basically leave armlet on. Just treads armlet dominator and he is super scary, then echo saber and he's probably stronger than most carries that stage of the game. The other item that's great now is AC. Stack armor reduction reliably and illusions get the attack speed. Dps wise I think it tops heart
i watch rtz playing ck yesterday and he got HotD after treads then armlet then ehco basher abyssal and it was super strong.
HotD seems very good on this hero. between the lifesteal and passive regen you can cancel armlet degen easily.
HotD doesnt give lifesteal. And the reason ck was buffed was lifesteal on crit, now he isnt the worst jungler in the entire game. He actually can sustain minor farming excursions from fighting, and the minus armor on reality rift suits support ck very well, as it helps ur whole team deal more dmg. Core ck had only one flaw and it was farming. He was and is a great pusher, and a great fighter, good at ganking and decent at laning. He just couldnt outfarm any carry, so u had to fight and if the fights didnt go so well then u were often times screwed.
