It's about your KDA and Damage in game. dont play supports. Or if you have to, pick venomancer, ult and run away and dont die!
It is actually reasonable that the system struggles more with rating support play rather than cores. Gpm/kda are a lot easier to measure than quality of warding/smoking etc.
pretty sure i can make a new acc, play support only and get vhs easily
stop spreading your bullshit, and just git gud
Brad, I think you know very little about DotAbuff and what the criteria are being placed in a specific pool of players. You should 100% play more games and strive to improve performance, regardless of role. I can guarantee you that if you do things right, you won't be just "Normal Skill" by this site's standards.
You're just bad and are trying to cheat your way to 3.5k which is easier to do by picking core
My last game I had an ogre who didnt even buy utility items at the start of the game, didnt get any fucking ward, fed and flames like a typical smurf and an enigma who farmed like an antimage and bought midas
Both were lvl 20
You're probably this kind of support and I fucking hope you calibrate where you belong
(If you're trying to tell me "boohoo ur lvl 20 smurf too" check my fucking ranked winrate and tell me do I deserve to be here or not)
I'm sure op is just bad at supporting but IMO it is harder for valve to spot a support in the wrong bracket rather than a core. It's not like they will go 20-0-0 with 1000GPM
definitely not, i've had smurfs where i instantly made them, played support and got placed in 4-5k avg matches after 2-3 matches.
you probably just suck shit at supporting
Are you replying to me cookie cos it's a pointless inflammatory reply if so. It's self-evident that getting a computer to identify a decent carry is easier than a decent support. Most of the effect of a decent support appears in the stats of the cores.
Yeah no. Tested with 3 accounts out of curiosity, and OPs observations cannot be generalised.
I main support. When I was new to the game, I calibrated at 1k. 2nd account turned out to be 3k. 3rd reached 3.5k (after 7.03 patch). Thanks valve! I was consistently placed in VHS before that patch.
Generally speaking, of course you will be placed in Normal Skill because the nature of typical "support" (lower GPM, XPM, and KDA).
ez u get very highskill, valve detect u not in expectation he lower it to high skill, then they lower u again maybe around 2.9-2.8 .maybe if u win 10 more game streak u get highskill back.
the reason that high mmr supports ARE high mmr is BECAUSE they make their TEAM play BETTER.
not because they're good
Supporting while smurung ruins your smurf, that's why people don't support. But smurfing is dead so it does not matter anymore

There has to be something else that is very very very important. My KDA (5.5), gpm, xpm and hero damage is in most of my games way above average. My win rate (58%) isnt bad either and still i cant escape normal skill...
Spammed Necro with a high KDA and hero damage. My gpm and xpm wasnt very high though (~500ish) and i did little tower damage. Win rate was ok (55%). Couldnt get to HS so i figured i try Luna. Started to spam her and i have a high KDA, hero damage, gpm, xpm and tower damage, still cant get into hs. Win rate is 70%...
So whatever is so important to get into hs, i cant figure it out...
PS: opendota estimates my mmr sligthly above 3k.
I'm not sure about that statement about DOTES forces people to only play carry tho seems pretty ridiculous, I also mostly play support when I started playing and when I calibrated it was 2.8k well its still normal skill tho hahaha, but you can get to higher bracket by playing support its possible.

I've make this account and it actually get good results but when i played more supports it had put me on normal skill
