Hello there, I am low 3k player and Ive been playing dota2 since 2012 and dota1 (dota allstars) since 2005 mby. Yes I am still noob and all those things, no hate please.
Since all this time Ive been never watching MY OWN games on replays and hadnt analized anything which might be big mistake of mine.
I wanted to ask you what should I analize in my matches? possitioning? searching mistakes?
Glad for any good answers and advices. Peace out.
Trying to git gut and even if some games are lsot because off my mistakes, some not Im trying to reach 4k by end of the year and looking for some cool advices excluding hero spamming whhich is good on short trip.

    mr. rabbit

if ur smart, you should analyze high mmr pubstars' replays instead

if ur not tho u probably wont understand why they do X thing, or worse you probably wouldnt realize theyre already making a play (stuff like perfect lane management cant be realized easily) so this is where u watch ur replays instead

analysis for idiots is simply looking at ur deaths + farm (if core). why did u die to X. why is ur farm lower than Y. and bunch of other factors like that.

also hero spamming isnt a short-term gain. its the best way to improve and gain mmr.

      🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

analysing your own replays is basically useless, look at what happened to blackdragon and betterdota; they just ended up quitting dota.

your mentality during a match and 10 minutes later won't change, only thing you'll end up doing is finding better ways to do the same stupid shit more efficiently.

ex. if an LC spammer were to analyse his replays, all that he'd make is a better method to farm jungle faster

he's still completely oblivious to the fact that the base idea of LC jungle is braindead.

        JackPot!

Watch many high mmr replays for the heroes you like, preferably boosters in your bracket. try to learn from them questioning their every move. then after watching a few of them, watch your own replay. You will feel like a complete retard and should be able to see your mistakes.

          Klonu

Thing is I watch alot of pro player games and trying to learn theyr moves. Thing is people talking alot about watching own games and analizing them.
About hero spamming - yes it will bring me hell alot of mmr, but will it change me beeing better in doto? probably not.
So now I have no idea how to improve, maybe staying my bracket and having fun is best option.

I could do better at possitioning for sure, im quite good last hitting at lane but could do better for sure especially killing creeps at tower sight. Sometimes tho I panic to much or rambo to much duh.

              @cookie

thing is idk how idiots would be able to analyse high mmr replays. all they'd see is "ooOOOO highlight ULTRA KILL" or shit like that. its not much different from just watching their own replay perhaps even worse since they'd probably gain nothing and just waste time

              シュポガキ😭😭😭

^ and they would build armlet on pa and sniper
Some ppl just dont have the right mindset and they are hopeless

                シュポガキ😭😭😭

OH THE EASIEST WAY TO REPLAY ANALYSIS IS TO COPY THEIR BUILD HAHAA

                  🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

i analye replays in 2 parts

1st part every idiot can do and everyone thinks that's what it is, so basically none of them get any mmr.

part 1: grab 10-20 replays of a high mmr play and figure out every single thing they do, find all their patterns.

2nd part is what will give you actual skill and mmr

part 2: for the next 20+ replays, instead of watching it and analysing it, predict what's gonna happen in advance using what you figured out in the first 20

watch for 30 seconds> pause >think about your answer> make a conclusion on what he's gonna do in the next 30 seconds > unpause and see your prediction.

if you were right, you keep going, if you were wrong then you re-watch and figure it out

because whatever you did for the first 10-20 replays might have been basically nothing because all you would've done is projected your own explanations(which are low mmr ideas) to the high mmr gameplay and made basically no progress.

only way you know you actually learned is if you're 100% correct and if you're exactly on spot for every single movement he's about to do.

Think of it as a physics problem and you're the scientist trying to figure out the formula(s)

if i were drop ball from point A at angle X and it lands on B, then you'd analyse and give your conclusions

so that if i were to take ball from point A at some different angle Y it should land a point C that you your pre-determined with your formula(s).

if it doesn't, then there's something wrong with your formula, so figure it out where the ball lands for angle Z.

because any idiot can make a formula that fits that particular definition of the problem that would be completley logical looking using their own experiences, the only difference is that the correct formula or near correct formula will be always correct in a general case.

ex newton's formulas work, but Einstein's are way more precise

while some guy named JOE can guess that the ball went from point a to B because of the wind blowing, but he won't predict that it will go to point C at a different angle

hero spamming wont bring u alot of mmr unless ur playing fotm lol, hero spamming is one of the best ways to both improve and gain mmr

this is because by having hero mastery you can now stop "thinking" about the micro game (how to press buttons, what these buttons do, etc) and instead focus on macro game -- how to actually win the game. i played timbersaw from 2700 to around 3400/3500 and i won vs kotl/drow/AMs simply because im better mechanically and i know how to counter my counters. when i stopped playing timber and moved to expanding my hero pool by playing cent/void/nyx/magnus/whatever i was atuck and even went back down to 3300. just a few months back i started to want to leanr broodmother, i went even lower in MMR but i know for sure that my micro + matchup knowledge has improved a lot and now im 3500 again with just brood and sb

proper hero spamming is basically going up and down in mmr for the sake of improvement. its not like u spam op shit like top 1 pubstar omni/abaddon/cm/sb u instantly get mmr. these heroes wont play themselves

i know for sure this isnt just me, i know alot of ppl who pick random stupid shit and never win meanwhile some guys spam ursa or some other shit and climb fucktons of mmr in weeks

yeah cookie thats what i did with spirit breaker, analyzed the cookie-cutter pattern of a 6.4k but after a few loss games started to lose and managed to figure out why

but i know some people who wont even be able to do the first part. i believe in what fx says that some people are hopeless. when i told some guys i know about replay analysis theyre just looking for highlights instead of figuring out what gave them the ability to be in that highlight in the first place

not saying OP is one but in case he is at least this is an eye opener

                        Cheap Laugh Guy

Almost mind-fucked me with analisys there

                          Klonu

@pyontan - well true, wasnt thinkin that way. Might master few of my favorite heroes especially windranger.
@cookie - thanks for long replay. Good advice is always welcomed. Wondering which pro player thats playing solo ranked games is best to watch.

There is 3 main reason why people won't bother doing this shit
                              -they think it's stupid
                              -it's tiring
                              -you're too dumb

                              mr. rabbit

dont watch pros, watch pubstars go to opendota rankings for any hero u want and pick top 1-5 (or whoevers active) and dedicate ur time to watching how he plays/see if he has any patterns to follow

                                🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

even i stopped doing it because it's annoyingly tiring,

basically removes all fun out of the game and makes into a physics problem.

sure i can easily get like 500-1000 mmr a month with it, but oh boy will it drain my soul.

^ for example: u want to study wr mid then go watch w33 play it because he spams that particular hero or you can just go to dotabuff check which hero you want to study and check the ranking on the hero.

@dota in 2017 🤔 - or they are playing for fun not willing to improve. Today is the day I want to improve and gitgut so Im asking serious questions and taking advices from better players than me.

its what made me quit this game. league is more fun imo u dont ned to analyze much HEHEHEHE

I recently watch bsj coaching somebody and i feel like its more efficient than replay analysis although the video ran out soon

Well, Ive got 4k smurf but I abandoned it. I feel like getting this score on my main and first account is better achivment.

                                            🍩🍪Cookie🍪🍩

unless he directly coaches you, anyone with a fast brain will analyse and gain more skill out of analysis than coaching.

but that's the problem, you actually have to be smart to be able to confront to yourself that you're wrong...

and on top of that you have to actually be smart enough to go trough all the variables to figure out the correct answer after...

                                                Funny
Because that's why I ditched dota in the first place
I simply can't stand playing without improving at a steady/respectable pace, and that thing is definitely tiresome
Anyway, look for the logic behind every decision and click, instead of copypasting 100% like those miracle wannabes
