5k1/probably 7k hours or 6k ish but if you go for wc3 days it probably goes for like 13k? 15k? who knows
Notail said during the OG Truesight that his account hit 15,000 hours played during that TI, and he's only like 8.5k or something. 1hr per MMR is probably reasonable for 1-5k, but above there, you start hitting a state of diminishing returns just because of the way competition is above that, and the way the MMR system is built.
2000-3000 mmr / 6000-8000hours
I played on two acc so not sure, but im definitely the worst one here.
But have around 5000k commends so archons are still enjoy play with me!
5040/3600 . If u add wc3 hours , 5040/4400 something .
Was all of your MMR gains smooth?
I started 1k then maintained at 0.9k in first 800 hrs, then went to 0.6k in next 200 hrs (trying new heroes in ranked) then a big leap to 1.7k in next 400hrs ( 7.00 was a boon for me) then back to 1.1k till I reached 2000hrs gameplay and then to 2k at 2200 hrs.
I reach 4k by around 2k hours playing
Now 5k hours playing still 4k so sad i stop improving lul.
Had to admit it back to the day i am using my friend gameleap acc and watch many videos there. But now never again since i am get to college at 2017 (hit 4k at 2016)
3800 MMR(2400 party)/2400 hrs played. This is skewed, because I’ve racked up a lot of hours also playing on my smurf accounts
2.7k/3.9k mmr /4k hours. I would say anyone with less than 1mmr per hour under 7k probably isnt gonna ever be exceptional at dota, myself included.

No no. Notail was some 8k-9k mmr with 15k hours of dota xD
I personally idle a lot in Dota 2 and spectate friends playing, so my 8.6k hours ingame are really around 6k hours playing.
Regardless, I have 8.6k and 3.9k MMR, and with that being said, I don't believe that amount of hours has anything to do with how good you are.
I've been 1k hours 3.6k MMR and 5 years later I'm 3.9k mmr wit 7000 more hours.
If you aim to improve you will obviously move forward in MMR much quicker.
I personally rarely follow meta or look up my replays because I find it boring.
Also, my peak was 4.7k meaning I'm capable of higher than 3k and probably even 5k, it's just that I lack attidude and dedication to actually get there.
For sure I'm trying to change that.
Also, for example, older Dotabuff posters know a guy named BOGIDOTO, he's literally even above me (9k hours, 3.6k MMR currently)
Not to mention the guy was 5.4k MMR 2 years ago.

Read what I said. I said people under 7k mmr. If you make it to 7k then your playtime is irrelevant since you are good enough at dota to justify plateauing your mmr.
^You have to add the tryharding ratio, the game mode (some ppl played a lot of ability draft), the 'drink vodka play dotka' multiplier and the cross-faded operator in your equation :)

can we stop pretending and fooling our selves? were not kid anymore. oh my old days i was bla bla,
mmr is based on ur win and lose, its determine how good u are "relatively" to "other players", mmr is not giving estimation of ur skill, it gives u estimation of how good u are "compare" to others.
thats how calibration works, ur stats compared to high mmr players stats.
if u were 4k some point and ur 3k now, it doesnt mean ur skill dropped (unless u forget how to press buttons), it just means others are improving and u are not!
its not giving u how good u are, its giving u how good u are compares to others,
for example
my 4k mmr shaker, using echo on one drow ranger who has aegis, and killing her once, after that lycan getting all the rax cause only thing we had was that echo against him, he is in top 10% players of this game, meanwhile he is a retard aswell
being in top 10% among retards wont make u a genius
if u were 4k some point and ur 3k now, it doesnt mean ur skill dropped (unless u forget how to press buttons), it just means others are improving and u are not!
I was 4.3k 2 weeks ago. Lost about 500 mmr. Anyways, it's pretty damn simple, MMR is pretty much representation of your skill. If you have 3k mmr you play like a 3k mmr.
MMR and skill are pretty much the same thing. There's no way someone is 5k because he's lucky. He's 5k because he's skilled and because he has better skills than 4k.
And btw, it doesn't mean that others are improving, it just means you went down few hundred points. Typical thing for low 4k players.
They peak at 4.3-4.4k and they drop down to 3.9-4k, and it goes over and over again until you maybe get lucky and hit high 4k (like I did), and obviously you go down if you are not ready for 4.7k.
Currently I'm trying to learn new heroes and see what can I do to get past 4.3-4.4k which has been my limit for good 5 or 6 months.
Back in Season 2 I got lucky and managed to get 4.7k/ Ancient 4 but obviously I lost it very quickly because I wasn't ready for it.
For sure I'm gonna try to spam Necro and play meta heroes, maybe I manage to get to 4.5-4.6k at least, who knows. We'll see
So far I've been having good games with Slark/SF/Meepo, but that's nothing new. I usually manage to play above average in 3800-3900 with my best heroes, but once I get past 4.1-4.2k I start to play worse and I can't have enough impact, sadly even with my best heroes.. -_-
@ddod
i've never said about luck, and when im talking about 3k-4k i mean 1k mmr difference like u said , 4.7k and 3.7k
im not considering 3.9k as 3k and 4.1k as 4k :/
how u can gain mmr? with winning! thats mean u are comparing with 5 other person! how calibrating works? comparing ur stats to others! its not showing ur skill, its not like math grade that if u get the high grade means u know math! u are compared to others, its relative skill, hope u got the difference
u may got the 4.7k 2 years ago, that doesnt mean u are as skilled as 4.7k players in this year!
but why? cause overall skill among players are increasing and u are not improving! look at TI for example, is that TI8 games look like TI6?

Do add hours spent on smurfs before reaching current MMR.
Mine is 2000/2200😢
