can depend on matchups but mostly on your own hero, so how your hero itemises and also what synergy your hero has with these early game items.
for example embers usually only build 1 wb early because they start with circlet + slipper for last hitting, and sleight only depends on damage, so the 5 attack speed is less useful compared to a slark, void or AM who have on-hit effects where attack speed is more useful, plus ember usually fills his slots quicker with midgame items (bottle, wand, euls, mael, spirit vessel etc)
if you're going for a big first item then you'll have free slots to fill and you need these extra stats to get you through the early game.
whereas if you're going to buy cheaper items, the stats on these items (e.g. from vlads / drum / soul ring etc) can replace the stats from bracer/null/wb, and you would have to sell ur bracer/null/wb too soon, whereas if you're building big items then you'll get more value out of these early game items cos you'll hold onto them for longer.
lane matchup might be a str offlaner building bracers vs a heavy magic damage lane, or necro building bracer instead of null.
on the other hand a core that usually skips these entirely is wraith king, because he's a low armour hero and skeletons benefit from buckler aura, that he builds buckler instead of bracer, and can go jungle if lane is hard.

When to buy and when to skip on cores? I see alot of games where people stack 2 and some games where cores dont grab any at all. Does it just depend on lane? What should I look for when deciding to buy a wraithband, bracer or null tali?
